Laurent Fortin, in his capacity as Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Nouvelle Aquitaine, had launched in March an appeal for solidarity from the wine sector in support of Ukraine. iDealwine, the European leader in wine auctions, had then offered to organise an online auction from 1st to 15th April.
The mobilisation of wine professionals from all vineyards and major collectors was impressive. The catalogue was composed of 300 lots, corresponding to more than 1,300 bottles.
For Laurent Fortin: “I was deeply touched by the outpouring of solidarity from the Châteaux and wine estates in Bordeaux and throughout the vineyards, which brought us magnificent bottles. We were surprised to discover that leading journalists, collectors and sommeliers were keen to offer us jewels from their own cellars. This unexpected amount of money, obtained thanks to the professionalism of our friends at iDealwine, will allow us to support the people of Ukraine who need it so much.
