The vineyard
A unique terroir
Like the finest Médoc crus, the best terroirs ‘look at the Gironde’, and Dauzac, a 49-hectare contiguous vineyard 350 metres away from the estuary, is no exception.
The Dauzac terroir is very distinctive; it is made up of a deep gravel outcrop, in a geological vein unique to this cru. These layers of gravel of varying thickness are vestiges of ancient alluvial terraces and sit on a clayey, gravelly sub-soil.
The secret, of course, is to understand and use this terroir and its various plots as best we can, according to the characteristics of the vintage. This rigorous plot selection process results in a wide variety of wines with remarkable potential in terms of quality.
An unspoilt natural environMent
The diversity seen throughout this 120-hectare property, combining vines, meadows and woodland, has undoubtedly influenced the way Château Dauzac’s ecosystem is managed. Biodiversity is impossible without encouraging the cohabitation of animal species. Sheep graze in the park, a dozen or so beehives are next to the main building and produce Château Dauzac’s second nectar. Egrets and herons also live on the premises and contribute to its diversity.
At Château Dauzac, the concept of unspoilt environment is multifaceted. Families and friends can sit on our benches and at our picnic tables and freely take advantage of the surrounding peace and quiet.
Innovation at the heart of our vineyard
We are proud to present our new carbon-neutral cuvée, a project that marks a turning point in our commitment to biodiversity and the environment. For many years, we have been working carefully and diligently on these issues, and are now embarking on this new challenge.
